Arcane Lore is the skill of controlling Arcane energies by studying and preparing spells through the use of Secrets. Using these volatile energies is inherently dangerous and a drain on your mental and physical health.  It can only be taken if a High Concept is chosen, there is no dabbling in Arcane Lore, you wouldn't survive if you didn't give it your all.

Defend:
+
Defend: Arcane Lore can be used to Defend against Unnatural, Natural, Unholy and Holy creatures alike.  This makes a mage especially powerful against those types of enemies. It only works against physical attacks and other attacks from the same source. For example it can be used to defend against a Dragon's (Unholy) claws and teeth, and it's Breath attack Unholy, but not if it smashes a tree trunk into you, same thing goes for demons grabbing a weapon and shooting or impaling you on it. Defend actions cost drain just as if you're casting a spell, the TN however is the enemy's skill rating used.
