Fly
THe fly skill is all about operating flying vehicles.
It's a General skill, so specializations or signature use are necessary to show actual aptitude instead of theoretical with the vehicle type of your choice. Generally your background will make it quite clear what your signature use is.
Overcome: Fly is the equivalent of Athletics when you’re in a vehicle—you use it to successfully accomplish movement in the face of difficult circumstances, like rough terrain, small amounts of clearance, or stunt driving. Obviously, Drive is also ripe for contests, especially chases and races.
Create advantage: You can use Fly to determine the best way to get somewhere in a flying vehicle, and a good enough roll might allow you to learn features of the route that get expressed as aspects, or declare that you know a Convenient Shortcut or something similar. You can also just read the Athletics description, and then make it about a flying vehicle. Advantages created using Fly often revolve around getting good positioning (height = speed), doing a fancy manoeuvre (Did a Barrel Roll, anyone?), or putting your opponent in a bad spot.
Attack: Attacking with weapons mounted on your flying vehicle is a large part of Fly, though you'd have to have had some training with it, either through signature use or by taking a stunt.
Defend: Avoiding damage to a vehicle in a physical conflict is one of the most common uses of Fly. You can also use it to defend against advantages being created against you or overcome actions of someone trying to get an advantageous position to attack you from.
Stunts
- Fighter pilot. You've undergone some form of combat training with your fighting vehicle(s) of choice. You can use attack without penalties to fire your flying vehicle's weapons.
- Dive from the clouds. If your opponent didn't Notice you at the start of the conflict, you get to attack from whatever form of cover particular to your aircraft and get two free shifts on that particular attack.
- You can't do that! You're so instinctively familiar with your flying vehicle, you can do things with it that shouldn't be possible. Pay a faith point to lose any Advantages on you and clear any "Advantage" they have on you in the Conflict environment.
