First you need to find the difficulty of creating the item, then multiply it by the item type.

To be able to get a shot at creating the item you need at least that level in the related skill (usually Technologist). There is a way to boost it. Having better tools will up your level in the related skills. As does the production area level. You also require a blueprint of the required item that may boost or lower the difficulty, depending on the quality.

The cost

The cost of creating an item is usually dependant upon the type. And the relative cost of the resources involved. Multiply the difficulty by 10 (if the difficulty is higher than your skill level, but still feasible due to equipment double this). Fit items in according to the rarity table of the resource (decided by the GM). Fuel usually means that the item uses Fuel instead of weapon components or raw materials, rare materials or tech components for upkeep.

Succeeding with style halves the cost or time.

The time required is Manpower days X difficulty X Time multiplier. If the difficulty is higher than your skill (but still feasible due to equipment) double this again.

Failure means half the resources are destroyed in the process.
